We go where change really happens: in the relationships between people. This is where we start — by building trust, connection and psychological safety.
At Common Ground Lab, we help companies to improve collaboration amongst their staff in a sustainable way and to facilitate change.
Community building often makes the an overlooked aspect It is clear what is missing from change processes: the human element of collaboration. Without trust, openness and psychological safety, organisational transformation usually remains superficial.
We support you, as a manager, in enhancing your impact, gaining clarity and acting with confidence in complex situations. This boosts your presence, decision-making ability and the quality of teamwork.

Our focus is clear: trust, psychological safety and genuine connection. This is precisely where the foundation for effective collaboration is laid.

Only when this foundation is in place can teams realise their full potential and not only plan for transformation, but actually put it into practice.
It is only when people feel safe that they speak their minds about what really matters.
HOW WE WORK
What drives us
We are bringing the concept of community building into the corporate world – going beyond traditional transformation methods. Community building is a tried-and-tested, profoundly effective process that empowers groups not to bridge their differences, but to transform them.
Our understanding of community is based on the work of Scott Peck:
“A community is a group of two or more people who, regardless of their different backgrounds, are able to accept and transform their differences, thereby communicating openly and effectively and treating one another with a sense of exceptional security and respect.”
How we work
Common Ground Lab sees itself as platform experienced facilitators who guide participants through the sessions, depending on the client’s specific focus.
In doing so, we support management teams, organisations and individuals in realising their full potential.
We create spaces for experience, in which cultural change becomes possible.
Engineering Leadership Offsite | International group
We designed and facilitated a two-day off-site event for eight department heads at an international technology and plant engineering company, held at a mountain chalet in the Vorlappen region – tailored to the team’s specific situation. Two examples of the methods used:
The World Café quickly provided an overview, brought the pressing issues of day-to-day work to the table – and highlighted what would otherwise be lost in the day-to-day hustle and bustle. The subsequent community-building exercise was specifically tailored to the participants’ needs: listening, expressing dissatisfaction constructively and showing mutual appreciation laid the foundations for reliable collaboration, even across different locations.
The client’s wish: a strong team in which everyone trusts one another implicitly, reliability is fostered, and coordination is easily achieved even across different locations.
In consultation with our client, we developed the concept to meet their needs and facilitated the off-site event. The carefully chosen location took the team away from their day-to-day work and into the mountainous landscape of the Alpine foothills. The hike to the hut and the convivial evening were part of the process.
By the end of the programme, the team had developed stronger relationships, greater trust, a shared language and a clearer understanding of leadership.
